UNIC Manama participated on Sunday in an education session for 4th-grade students, organized on International Children's Day by Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior.
On World Children's Day, the United Nations Information Centre for the Gulf Countries (UNIC Manama) participated in an educational session for 4th grade students which was organized by the Bahrain Ministry of Interior.
Through engaging discussions, multimedia presentations, and real-life scenarios, children gained insights into their rights, including education, health, personal safety, and protection.
“World Children’s Day provides an entry-point to advocate, promote, and celebrate children's rights. It is important to educate children on their rights as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is also important to explain to children how their rights are interconnected, equally important, and cannot be taken away from them,” said Ahmed Ben Lassoued, UNIC Manama Director.
Artistic workshops were held alongside the educational sessions. Children drew, painted, and did other crafts, creatively expressing their thoughts and aspirations.
Adopted in 1989, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is an important agreement by countries that have promised to protect children’s rights. The convention explains the rights of children and the responsibilities of governments to uphold them.
World Children’s Day is celebrated on 20 November each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare.
